The Hybrid DVR H.265 with HIK-Connect: 8 Channel, 8MP (SKU DVR-8CH-HYL8MP) is a digital video recorder (DVR) for analogue HD cameras. It takes up to eight cameras and records each at up to 8MP.
What each spec means in use
- 8 channels: one camera per input, eight cameras in total.
- Up to 8MP recording: 8 megapixels (8 million pixels) per camera.
- HDTVI, HDCVI, AHD and CVBS inputs: four analogue signal types on one recorder. Older systems can be upgraded without replacing all the infrastructure.
- H.265 and H.264 compression: these codecs shrink video files, so the hard drive holds more footage.
- HDMI and VGA outputs: HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) and VGA (Video Graphics Array) both connect a monitor for Full HD live view and playback.
- HIK-Connect: view live video, play back recordings and manage the system from a smartphone, tablet or desktop browser.
- Synchronous playback: several channels play back together, which speeds up reviewing an incident.
- Coaxial and UTP transmission: UTP (unshielded twisted pair) runs need compatible baluns.
It runs an embedded Linux platform built for continuous recording.
What you need alongside it
Cameras that output one of the four supported formats, a hard drive to record to, and a monitor with an HDMI or VGA input. Add baluns if you are running cable over UTP, and a network connection for remote viewing.
