What the numbers on the box actually mean.

Not sure how many days a drive will hold, or which lens reaches your gate? Two calculators give you a figure for your own set-up.

Megapixels (MP)4MP to 8MP
What this means

More pixels let you zoom into a recording and still read detail. 4MP is a good all-round choice; 8MP (4K) helps across wide areas such as car parks.

Lens size (mm)2.8mm to 6mm
What this means

Smaller numbers see wider, larger numbers see further. A 2.8mm lens suits a room or garden; 4mm to 6mm picks out a face across a driveway.

Infrared vs colour night visionTwo kinds
What this means

Infrared records in black and white in total darkness. Colour night-vision cameras use a sensitive sensor, and often a soft light, to keep colours after dark.

PoE (Power over Ethernet)1 cable
What this means

One network cable carries both power and video, so each camera needs a single cable run back to a PoE recorder or switch. No socket at the camera.

NVR, DVR and storageDays kept
What this means

An NVR records IP cameras; a DVR records coaxial (analogue HD) cameras. Drive size decides how many days you keep; the storage calculator works it out.

Is a trade account required to buy?

No. Anyone can order at the prices shown, with no minimum order. Businesses get a VAT invoice with every order.

Wired or wireless cameras: which should I choose?

Wired PoE cameras are the most reliable choice for a permanent installation because power and video share one cable and nothing depends on Wi-Fi. Wireless cameras suit places where running a cable is impractical.

How much storage do I need?

Three variables decide it: camera count, resolution per camera and the retention period in days. As a rough guide, four 4MP cameras recording continuously fill about 1TB in a week to ten days; the storage calculator gives a figure for your own set-up.

Can I watch my cameras on my phone?

Yes. The network recorders we sell connect to the manufacturer’s free app, so you can view live and recorded footage from anywhere with a data connection.

How much is delivery?

Delivery is free on UK orders over £100. Below that, the charge is shown in your basket before you pay. See the delivery page for dispatch times.
