Product Description
The RG59 CCTV Cable 20m BNC Video with DC Power Shotgun Lead for Camera to DVR (SKU RG59P-CABLE-20M) is one 20m cable that carries video and power for a single camera. "Shotgun" means the coax and the power pair are bound side by side, so you pull one length instead of two.
What is on each end
- Video, both ends: BNC male plugs on 75Ω RG59 coax. BNC is the bayonet-style push-and-twist connector used on CCTV cameras and recorders. The plugs are factory fitted, so no crimping is needed.
- Power, camera end: a 2.1mm DC barrel plug.
- Power, recorder end: a matching socket or bare tails, for wiring to a centralised 12VDC multi-channel power supply unit (PSU).
- Conductors: red (positive) and black (negative), typically 18-22AWG.
- Outer jacket: black PVC, UV-resistant, with moulded strain relief at the connectors.
Where it can run
The jacket suits internal trunking, wall runs and sheltered external runs when the cable is properly clipped.
Video formats and distance
The coax carries analogue CVBS (composite video) and the HD-over-coax formats HD-TVI, AHD and CVI. The cable does not convert between formats, so the camera and recorder need to use one of these.
The lead itself is a fixed 20m. If you extend from a junction box, RG59 typically reaches 250-400m for CVBS and 100-200m for the HD formats, depending on camera quality and recorder sensitivity.
What else you need
- A camera with a BNC video output and a 2.1mm DC power input.
- A DVR or NVR with a free BNC input.
- A 12VDC supply with enough rating for the camera.
It suits bullet, dome or turret cameras on medium-distance runs in homes and small commercial sites.
