4-camera CCTV systems
Typical use: most houses, covering front, rear, side and driveway. Recorder: a 4-channel PoE NVR, one network cable per camera. Storage: a 1–2TB surveillance drive holds approximately one month of motion-triggered footage.
8-camera CCTV systems
Typical use: larger houses and small business premises, covering the yard, stock areas, tills and entrances. Before ordering, confirm that the PoE budget of the recorder covers the selected cameras: eight IR cameras at full draw exceed a minimal 8-port supply.
PoE CCTV kits
Power over Ethernet (PoE) is the default for new installations. Cabling: one Cat5e or Cat6 run per camera, carrying both power and video. Connectors: standard RJ45. Adding a camera later requires a patch lead, not an electrician.
Hikvision kits
One ecosystem for recorder and cameras. Features: AcuSense human and vehicle filtering, smart search in playback, a single app. Recommended pairing: a Hikvision NVR and cameras (turret or bullet) of the same series.
Pre-built kit versus individual components
Pre-built kits use the same components we stock individually: recorder, cameras and storage, matched and checked for compatibility, priced at the sum of the parts. Individual components let the system fit the site exactly. Lens, cable length and drive are your choice, and each part remains individually replaceable, which is standard practice for installers.
