A 5MP kit pairs fixed-resolution cameras (bullet or turret style) with a recorder (DVR or NVR) and a hard drive already matched to the channel count. 5MP is the sensor resolution — each camera captures 5 megapixels per frame, giving sharper detail than 2MP/1080p for reading number plates or faces at distance.
Kits in this range span 4, 8, 16 and 32-channel recorders, so the first decision is how many camera positions you need now and later — a 4-channel recorder cannot take a 5th camera.
