IP (PoE) Kits: FAQs
Recording period: how many days does a kit in this range keep?
Three variables apply: drive capacity, number of cameras recording, and camera resolution. Guide figure per terabyte, continuous recording, one camera: approximately 46 days at 4MP; approximately 23 days at 4K. Median for this range: 27 days. The estimate for each kit is stated on its card. Recording on motion only extends the period.
Channels and cameras: what is the difference?
Channels: the number of cameras a recorder can accept. Cameras: the quantity included in the kit. Recorder channels in this range: 4 to 32. Spare channels allow cameras to be added later without replacing the recorder.
Box contents
An NVR with matched cameras, checked for compatibility. Hard drive: included with every kit in this range. Full contents, with model numbers, are listed on each kit page.
Price range for kits in this range
In-stock kits, price range: £230.69 to £3,102.85 (including VAT). Card prices are per kit.
IP (PoE) CCTV kits pair Hikvision cameras with a matching NVR (network video recorder) and pre-sized hard drive, so the recording channels, camera count and storage are already balanced for you. Ranges from 4-channel to 8-channel, with camera resolutions from 4MP up to 4K, and single drives from 5TB to 10TB. Some 8-channel kits use one recorder fitted with two 10TB drives rather than a single 10TB drive.
Camera styles include turret and bullet designs, in black or white finishes, so you can match the look to the installation site as well as the coverage need.
How to choose
- Channels: match the recorder's channel count to the number of cameras you need now (4 or 8 in this range) — spare channels allow future expansion.
- Resolution: 4MP, 5MP and 4K kits trade off image detail; higher resolution means more storage used per hour of footage.
- Storage: kits are supplied with 5TB or 10TB, or 2× 10TB drives in some 8-channel kits, sized to typical retention needs.
- Camera type: turret cameras suit fixed close-range views; bullet cameras suit longer, more directional views.
- PoE: PoE (Power over Ethernet) recorders power cameras through the same cable as the video feed, simplifying cabling runs.
IP (PoE) Kits — frequently asked questions
What does PoE mean on these kits?
PoE stands for Power over Ethernet. It lets the recorder power each camera through the same network cable that carries the video, so no separate power cable is needed.
How many cameras can I connect?
This range includes 4-channel and 8-channel kits, so you can connect either 4 or 8 cameras depending on the kit you choose.
How much storage do I need?
Kits in this range come with 5TB or 10TB drives, and some 8-channel kits use a recorder fitted with 2× 10TB drives for extra recording capacity.
