Black Kits: FAQs
Recording period: how many days does a kit in this range keep?
Three variables apply: drive capacity, number of cameras recording, and camera resolution. The estimate for each kit is stated on its card. Recording on motion only extends the period.

Black CCTV kits bundle a recorder, storage and black turret cameras in one box. This range has 100+ kits from Hikvision, Prolux and Tiandy.
A turret camera is a compact, ball-shaped camera that mounts to a wall or ceiling. Black suits dark fascias and soffits.
How to choose
- Channels: a channel is one camera input on the recorder. The range includes 4-channel, 16-channel and 32-channel kits. A 16-channel kit with 4 cameras leaves spare inputs for later additions.
- Resolution: 4MP (megapixel) kits suit general monitoring. 4K kits record at 8MP, giving more detail when you zoom into saved footage.
- Camera count: kits range from 3 or 4 cameras up to 12 or 13. Hikvision models include the DS-2CD2387G3 and DS-2CD1383G2.
- Storage: the hard drive sets how much footage is kept. Options run from 4TB and 5TB to 10TB, 16TB and 2× 16TB. More cameras and higher resolution fill a drive faster.
Match the channel count to the cameras you want now and later. Then pick the drive size for how many days of footage you need.
