Recording period: how many days does a kit in this range keep?
Three variables apply: drive capacity, number of cameras recording, and camera resolution. Guide figure per terabyte, continuous recording, 7 cameras: approximately 3 days at 4K. Median for this range: 19 days. The estimate for each kit is stated on its card. Recording on motion only extends the period.
Channels and cameras: what is the difference?
Channels: the number of cameras a recorder can accept. Cameras: the quantity included in the kit. Spare channels: at least 1 on every recorder in this range. Spare channels allow cameras to be added later without replacing the recorder.

- Recorder channels: match the kit's 8 or 16-channel recorder to your camera count, with spare channels for future additions.
- Storage: drive sizes from 3TB to 14TB are pre-matched to the camera count and resolution in each kit — higher resolution needs more storage for the same recording period.
