Product Description
The Dahua XVR5104HS-I3 4-Channel DVR + 4TB Recording (SKU 1xDH-XVR5104HS-4KL-I2+4TB) is a Dahua WizSense recorder. A DVR, or digital video recorder, saves the pictures from your CCTV (closed-circuit television) cameras onto a hard drive.
What each spec means in practice
- 4 channels. One camera per channel, so up to four cameras. That fits a small property with a handful of cameras.
- 4TB hard drive, pre-installed. The 4 terabytes of storage come fitted, so you don't need to source a drive separately.
- 4K. This is a 4K model. 4K describes very high-resolution video, around 3840 × 2160 pixels. The picture you see also depends on the cameras connected.
- AI. Short for artificial intelligence. This recorder sits in Dahua's WizSense AI range.
- Penta-brid. The recorder accepts several types of camera signal, so it isn't tied to one camera format.
What else you need
The recorder is one part of the system. You will also need:
- Cameras, up to one for each of the four channels.
- Cabling to reach each camera from the recorder.
- A power supply for the cameras, if they don't draw power from the cable.
- A monitor to view the footage.
Cameras that flicker or go dark at night are often a power problem, not a recorder fault. IR (infrared) lights draw more current in the dark, and a weak adapter or long cable run can cause voltage drop. Check the adapter rating and cable quality first.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many cameras can the Dahua XVR5104HS-I3 record?
It has 4 channels, which means one camera per channel, so up to four cameras.
Does it come with a hard drive?
Yes. A 4TB hard drive is pre-installed, so you don't need to buy one separately.
What does Penta-brid mean?
It means the recorder accepts several types of camera signal, so it isn't limited to a single camera format.
My camera flickers at night. Is the recorder at fault?
Not necessarily. Weak or unstable camera power is a common cause, because the IR lights draw more current in the dark. Check the power adapter rating and the cable length and quality.
