Product Description
The Connectix Cat5e U/UTP Outdoor Network Cable 1m PE 0.5mm Black is a one-metre length of Category 5e (Cat5e) Ethernet cable with a black polyethylene (PE) outer sheath.
What the specs mean for you
- U/UTP (unshielded, unscreened twisted pair): the pairs are twisted to reduce crosstalk, which is signal leaking between pairs, and interference.
- 0.5mm solid copper conductors: a solid core for stable transmission.
- PE sheath: made for outdoor installation. Suited to conduit, external walls and underground duct systems when properly installed. It also works indoors where you want a tougher jacket.
- 10/100/1000 Mbps: Gigabit Ethernet, up to 1000 megabits per second.
- 1m length: for short network and CCTV connections.
What else you need
The cable is compatible with RJ45 connectors, patch panels and keystone jacks. It suits IP CCTV cameras, switches and other network equipment.
It is described for PoE (Power over Ethernet) delivery to IP cameras. For that to work, the camera and the switch or injector at the other end must both support PoE. Gigabit speed also needs gigabit-capable equipment at both ends.
One metre covers a short link only. A longer camera run needs a longer cable.
