Product Description
The Connectix External Cat5e UTP Solid Copper Cable 100m Black LDPE Outdoor Reel is a four-pair copper data cable for external network and CCTV links. It carries 10/100/1000 Mbps (Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet) when correctly terminated.
What the specs mean on site
- Cat5e UTP, 4 pairs. UTP is unshielded twisted pair. All four pairs are used for Gigabit. The cable is specified to exceed ANSI/TIA Enhanced Category 5 requirements.
- Solid pure copper conductors. The cable is solid copper, not CCA (copper-clad aluminium). Lower resistance matters on longer runs and where PoE (Power over Ethernet) feeds IP cameras or outdoor access points.
- Black LDPE/PE sheath. Weather-resistant, for ducts, building exteriors and catenary runs. Check local regulations for your site.
- 100m reel with metre marking. You can read off run length as you pull. It also helps you identify distance during fault finding.
What else you need
- RJ45 plugs, keystone jacks or patch panels to terminate. The cable is compatible with standard Cat5e versions of each, including surface boxes.
- A PoE switch or injector if you are powering cameras over the cable. Check the power budget of your device.
- Certification of the finished channel, using compliant Cat5e patch panels and modules.
Typical uses: point-to-point links between buildings, IP cameras, wireless access points and small network enclosures.
