The RJ45 CAT6 U/UTP Outdoor Ethernet Cable 1m Reel Red 23AWG Solid Copper (SKU RJ45-CAT6-1M-REEL-RED-23AWG) is a 1m length cut from the reel. You terminate it yourself. It carries data and power to IP cameras, outdoor access points and access control readers.
What the specs mean on site
- Cat6, 4-pair, U/UTP (unshielded twisted pair): built to ANSI/TIA-568-C.2 Category 6. Supports 1000Base-T to 100m and 10GBase-T to 55m.
- 550MHz bandwidth rating: headroom for IP video alongside VoIP and building automation traffic.
- 23AWG solid bare copper: AWG is American Wire Gauge. This is heavier than 24AWG cable, so resistance and insertion loss are lower. That helps preserve your PoE (Power over Ethernet) budget on long external runs.
- PoE up to IEEE 802.3bt Type 4 (90-100W): the power source still has to supply it, so check the PoE budget on your switch.
- Red PE/LDPE jacket: UV-stabilised and weatherproof. It suits external duct, catenary suspension or facade mounting, subject to local mechanical support codes.
- 6.2-6.8mm overall diameter: fits 20-25mm conduit and IP67-rated RJ45 outdoor glands.
Terminating it
Fit CAT6 RJ45 plugs for a patch lead, or punch down to keystone modules or IDC patch panels for a permanent link. Sequential metre marking on the jacket helps with certification testing and tracking lengths used.
You will need RJ45 plugs or keystone modules, a crimp or punch-down tool, and a PoE switch or recorder port at the other end.
