Product Description
Eight cameras, one network cable each, one recorder. That is the job of the Hikvision 8-ch 1U 8 PoE 8K NVR (DS-7608NI-M2/8P). An NVR (network video recorder) stores footage from IP cameras. PoE (Power over Ethernet) sends power and video down the same cable.
What the specs mean for you
- 8 PoE ports, 8 channels: up to eight IP cameras plug in and are powered directly from the recorder.
- Cameras up to 32 MP: very high-resolution cameras can be recorded.
- 8-ch @ 8 MP decoding: eight channels at 8 MP (often called 4K) can be decoded together.
- 128 Mbps incoming: the combined bitrate of all your cameras has to fit inside this figure. Add the bitrates up before you choose cameras.
- 256 Mbps outgoing: the bandwidth available for playback and remote viewing.
- H.265+/H.265/H.264+/H.264: supported video formats. H.265+ is there to cut bandwidth and storage use.
Storage and viewing
Two SATA (hard drive) interfaces each take a drive of up to 16 TB, so 32 TB across both. NAS (network attached storage) and iSCSI network storage are supported as well. You will need IP cameras and at least one SATA drive to record locally.
HDMI output reaches 8K and runs independently of the VGA output, so you can set up two monitoring configurations.
Connections
Gigabit LAN, USB for backup and alarm integration are built in. It works with ONVIF devices and Hik-Connect for remote monitoring. Up to eight IP speakers can be connected.
