Product Description
The Cat6 Ethernet Cable, Gigabit RJ45 20m, White - High-Speed LAN Patch Cable connects two network devices with one continuous 20-metre length. Here is what each spec means in practice.
Spec by spec
- 20m length: reaches across a large room or between areas without a join.
- Cat6, up to 1000Mbps: Mbps means megabits per second, so this is gigabit speed. It suits streaming, online gaming and other bandwidth-heavy use.
- Backward compatible with Cat5 devices: it still works if part of your network is older.
- Pure copper, UTP: UTP stands for unshielded twisted pair. The wire pairs are twisted together, with no metal screen around them.
- Moulded RJ45 connectors: the plugs are fitted at the factory and fit standard network ports.
- Slim, just over 1mm high: it can slide under carpets or floors, or sit behind furniture.
- Indoor and outdoor use: the cable is suitable for both, so an outdoor run is possible as well as an indoor one.
- White jacket: it blends into walls and skirting.
- RoHS compliant: RoHS is the Restriction of Hazardous Substances directive.
What else you need
Both devices need an RJ45 network port. For full gigabit speed, both ports must also be gigabit-capable.
For CCTV, the cable can connect a DVR (digital video recorder) to your network. It also suits home and office networking.
