Product Description
The DC Female Red & Black Power Pigtail 50cm 5.5x2.1mm Barrel Connector CCTV is a 50cm power lead with a female barrel socket on one end and bare wires on the other. It links a power supply unit (PSU) to a camera with a barrel power jack.
What the specs mean in use
- Female 5.5mm outer diameter x 2.1mm inner diameter barrel: accepts a male DC plug, such as the one on a camera's own pigtail or an adaptor.
- Red positive, black negative: the colours let you confirm polarity before you power up.
- 18-20AWG wire (American Wire Gauge): suited to crimping, soldering or Wago termination.
- 12-24VDC, 2A maximum: covers a single camera or short parallel feeds from a rack-mount PSU. Check your camera's current draw against the 2A limit.
- 50cm length: reaches from a junction box to a camera, or across a PSU distribution layout in a rack. It is longer than 15cm variants.
- Pre-stripped ends: ready to join siamese cable power pairs or a central DC bus.
- PVC insulation: for indoor or outdoor use inside IP65+ enclosures and conduit runs.
What else you need
A 12V or 24V DC supply that matches your camera, plus a way to terminate the bare ends: crimp connectors, solder, screw terminals or lever-nut blocks. It suits Hikvision, Dahua and generic analogue/IP hybrid systems, including HD-TVI, AHD and CVI cameras with a 5.5x2.1mm jack.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which wire is positive on this pigtail?
Red is positive (the centre pin) and black is negative (the barrel).
What is the maximum current and voltage?
It is rated 12-24VDC with a 2A maximum, enough for a single camera or short parallel feeds from a rack-mount PSU.
Can I connect it to a camera's existing power plug?
Yes. The female 5.5mm x 2.1mm barrel accepts a male DC plug from a camera pigtail or adaptor.
My camera flickers at night. Could the power lead be the cause?
It can be. Infrared LEDs draw more power at night, so a weak supply or a long, thin cable run can cause voltage drop. Check the PSU rating and cable length first.
