Product Description
The DC Male Red & Black Power Pigtail 50cm 5.5x2.1mm Barrel Plug CCTV is a short power lead with a barrel plug on one end and bare wires on the other. It takes power from a PSU (power supply unit) to an analogue camera with a female DC jack.
What the specs mean in practice
- 5.5mm outer diameter x 2.1mm inner diameter, male, centre positive. It mates with female DC jacks on analogue HD-TVI, AHD and CVI cameras. Centre positive means the inner pin carries the positive feed.
- Red positive, black negative. You can check polarity at a glance when you land the wires on a terminal.
- 18AWG (American Wire Gauge) pure copper, rated 2-5A at 12-24VDC. That suits a single camera or parallel camera loads. Copper conductors help limit voltage drop on longer extensions.
- 50cm long. It reaches from a rack PSU to a junction box, or moves a camera away from its power point, where 15-30cm leads fall short.
- Pre-stripped ends. They go into screw terminals, crimps or Wago blocks with no soldering.
- Flame-retardant PVC insulation.
What else you need
A DC power supply that matches your cameras' voltage and covers their combined current, including infrared (IR) at night. Pair the pigtail with a female counterpart to build an extension of up to 2m. It carries power separately from PoE (Power over Ethernet) cabling, and suits Hikvision/Dahua hybrid systems using siamese RG59 or rack-mount PSUs.
