Product Description
The Cat6 RJ45 Ethernet Wall Socket Faceplate Network LAN Outlet gives a Cat6 cable run a fixed female port in the wall. A device connects with an ordinary patch lead, and the cable end stays tidy and out of sight.
What the specs mean at the wall
- Standard RJ45 female port. RJ45 (registered jack 45) is the common Ethernet connector. Any lead with a standard RJ45 plug goes into it.
- Compatible with Cat6 Ethernet cabling. Cat6 is Category 6 cable. Terminate a Cat6 run behind the plate and the socket matches it.
- Designed for standard back boxes. It mounts to a standard wall back box, so the outlet sits in the wall instead of a loose cable end.
- Fixed LAN connection point. LAN is local area network. You get one permanent position for a network device.
Where it is used
Structured cabling installations, including home, office and commercial network points.
What else you need
- A Cat6 cable run, terminated to the socket.
- A standard back box fitted in the wall.
- A patch lead from the socket to the device.
- Network equipment at the far end of the run, such as a switch or router.
This is an outlet, not a switch. It provides the wall connection point and does not add network capacity.
