What the specs mean in practice

• 18U capacity. One rack unit (U) is 44.45mm of mounting height, so 18U gives roughly 800mm of rack space for switches, patch panels, routers and NVRs (network video recorders).
• 600mm W × 450mm D × 900mm H. These are external sizes. The 450mm depth is the outside measurement, so your deepest device and its cable bends must fit within it.
• 19-inch rack format. It takes standard 19-inch rack networking hardware.
• Lockable front door. Keeps installed hardware away from casual access, while the door still opens for maintenance.
