Housing
This range holds 5MP Turbo HD cameras. 5MP means five megapixels, which gives more image detail than 1080p. Several models are labelled 3K. Turbo HD sends the picture over coaxial cable to a digital video recorder (DVR). The range includes Hikvision, Hilook and VIPER PRO models.
How to choose
- Body style: turret cameras suit most walls and ceilings. Bullet cameras are the longer, tube-shaped style. The Hikvision 3K Two Way Audio Fixed PT Turret adds pan and tilt (PT), so the view can be turned.
- Audio: two-way audio models have a microphone and a speaker, so you can hear and speak at the camera. Audio-only turrets listen but do not talk back.
- Deterrence: the ColorVu PIR Siren turret and bullet add a passive infrared (PIR) motion sensor and a siren. The Hikvision 3K Two Way Audio & Siren Fixed Bullet Camera pairs two-way audio with a siren.
- Night lighting: the VIPER PRO 5MP 3K camera is described as a 24-hour smart light model.
What else you need
A DVR that accepts 5MP Turbo HD input, one channel per camera. Coaxial cable runs to each camera. Check that the recorder supports audio if you want sound recorded.
