First check which recorder you already have: an NVR needs a network (IP) camera, a DVR needs a wired (coax) camera. Then decide how well you need to see in the dark.

This range is mostly 2MP (2 megapixel, 1080p) cameras, plus one 3MP model. It mixes analogue Turbo HD cameras with PoE IP cameras, so the first choice is the type of recorder you have.
How to choose
- Turbo HD PTZ or speed dome. PTZ means pan, tilt and zoom. The 25x models (a Hikvision speed dome and the DS-2AE5225TI-A-E) let you steer the view and zoom in on distant areas. They need a compatible Turbo HD recorder channel and a way to control them.
- PoE IP turret. PoE (Power over Ethernet) carries power and video on one network cable. The Hikvision DS-2CD1327G2-LUF and the Tiandy TC-C320N are turret cameras. Both list a built-in microphone. Each needs a PoE switch or PoE recorder port, with spare power budget.
- Wide or narrow view. The Tiandy has a 2.8mm lens. That gives a wide view, which suits a room or garden.
- Night view. The Tiandy lists IR (infrared) range of 30m. The DS-2CD1327G2-LUF is ColorVu, and it is rated IP67 for outdoor dust and water protection.
- Resolution. The Hilook fixed mini bullet is 3MP, so it gives a little more detail than the 2MP models. A listing titled THC-T220-MS-R is also here, so check its datasheet before ordering.
Allow for recorder channels and drive size too. Higher resolution and more cameras mean more storage.
2MP — frequently asked questions
Do I need a PoE switch for the IP turret cameras?
The Hikvision DS-2CD1327G2-LUF and Tiandy TC-C320N are PoE IP cameras, so they need a PoE switch or a recorder with PoE ports.
What does 25x zoom mean?
It is optical magnification up to 25 times, which brings distant subjects closer. The Hikvision speed dome and DS-2AE5225TI-A-E both list 25x.
Is everything in this range 2MP?
Not quite. Most products are 2MP, but the Hilook fixed mini bullet is listed as 3MP.
