What the specs mean for you
- 500GB capacity: the space available for stored footage. How many days it holds depends on camera count, resolution and recorder settings.
- 7200 RPM (revolutions per minute): the platter speed, which gives fast access to files.
- SATA III (Serial ATA) interface: high-speed data transfer between drive and recorder.
- 128MB cache: the drive's onboard buffer memory.
- 3.5 inch form factor and RoHS compliant.
What it works with
It is compatible with all DVR (digital video recorder) and NVR (network video recorder) surveillance systems. It also works in desktops, servers, NAS (network attached storage) devices and external enclosures. For Hikvision recorders, we have troubleshooting steps for this drive.
One setting to check
If your recorder shows "Storage Full", open its Storage or HDD settings and enable Overwrite (also called Loop Recording). The recorder then deletes the oldest footage and keeps recording.
