2TB - HDD 3.5" SATA Hard Drives - Ideal for 24/7 continuous recording

This is the storage half of a CCTV system. The 2TB 3.5" SATA hard drive (SKU: HDD-2TB-Pre-installed) holds recorded footage once it is fitted inside a compatible recorder. It does nothing on its own.

What the specs mean for you

• 2TB: 2 terabytes of space for recordings.
• 3.5": the physical drive size. Your recorder needs a bay that takes a drive this size.
• SATA: Serial ATA, the connection between drive and recorder. Your recorder must support SATA drives.
• 24/7 recording: the drive is listed as ideal for continuous recording.

What else you need

A compatible DVR (digital video recorder) or NVR (network video recorder). Use the drive to replace an existing drive, or to add recording capacity to a recorder supplied without storage. It suits compatible home and business CCTV systems.

Before ordering, check your recorder's supported drive interface, physical size and hard drive requirements.

How long will 2TB last?

There is no single figure. Recording time depends on:

• the number of cameras
• resolution and frame rate
• video compression
• the recording schedule

Motion-triggered recording can extend how long footage is kept, because it avoids saving unnecessary recordings.
