The Hikvision 5MP Fixed Bullet Network Camera - H.265+, IP67, WDR, EXIR 2.0, Built-In Mic (DS-2CD1053G0-IUF, also listed as DS-2CD1053G0-IUF-2.8mm-W) sends video and sound over an Ethernet cable. Here is what each spec means in use.
Spec to result
- 5MP, 2560 × 1920: a progressive scan CMOS sensor with more pixels to work with when you need to pick out detail.
- Fixed 2.8mm lens: a wide view for entrances, walkways, perimeters and open spaces. It does not zoom, so choose the mounting position to suit the area you want in frame.
- EXIR 2.0, up to 30m: EXIR is Hikvision's infrared (IR) lighting. It gives a picture in complete darkness out to 30 metres, with less overexposure and uneven lighting.
- Built-in microphone: audio is recorded alongside the video.
- WDR, BLC, HLC, 3D DNR: wide dynamic range, backlight compensation, highlight compensation and 3D digital noise reduction. Together they balance bright and dark areas in one scene and cut image noise.
- IP67 weatherproof metal housing: made for outdoor use, and also fine indoors.
What you need to make it work
- Power: a Power over Ethernet (PoE) source supporting IEEE 802.3af, or a 12V DC supply.
- Recorder: a Hikvision network video recorder (NVR), or an ONVIF-compliant video management system (VMS). ONVIF is an open standard for mixing makes of equipment.
- Storage: the camera supports H.265+, H.265, H.264+ and H.264 compression. H.265+ and H.264+ reduce bandwidth and storage use, so they help when drive space is limited.
