Product Description

A powerline adaptor sends network data over the mains wiring already in the building. The Comtrend PowerGrid 9020 200Mbps Powerline Ethernet Adaptor is one half of that link, so you need two units to make a connection.

What each spec means for you

  • Up to 200 Mbps physical data rate. This is the rate on the mains wiring, not a file-transfer speed. It suits SD (standard definition) or HD video streaming.
  • One 10/100 Ethernet port per unit. The cable between adaptor and device runs at up to 100 Mbps. The device needs an RJ-45 Ethernet socket.
  • About 3.4 W active, 0.84 W on standby. That is the power each unit draws.
  • Black, plug-and-play UK wall plug. It is BS1363 compatible, the British standard for 13A plugs and sockets.
  • Tested and confirmed working, though it shows light scuffs or scratches.
  1. Plug the first adaptor into a wall socket near the router. Join them with an Ethernet cable. This end acts as the Access Point (AP).
  2. Plug the second adaptor into a socket near the device, such as a TV box or PC. Connect it with an Ethernet cable.

Besides the pair, you need two Ethernet cables and a spare Ethernet port on the router. Real-world speed depends on the wiring in your building, so treat 200 Mbps as the upper limit.

How much power does it use?

Power draw sits around 3.4 W in use and drops to 0.84 W in standby.

What condition is it in?

Tested and confirmed working, though it has slight scuffs or scratches.
