A smashed window does nothing to a door contact, and a motion sensor only reacts once someone is already inside. The DS-PDBG8-EG2-WE is an AX PRO internal wireless glass break detector made for that gap. It listens for the sound of glass breaking.

What each spec means in the room

• 8m detection range. Measure from the spot where you would mount it to the furthest pane. Glazing inside that distance falls within one detector's reach. Panes beyond it need a second detector position.
• Wireless. There is no cable to run back to the alarm, which helps where drilling through walls is awkward.
• Configurable through the app. Settings are adjusted from the app, so set-up and changes happen on screen.
• Replaceable battery, 5 year life span. When the battery runs down, you change the battery rather than the whole detector. Plan a battery change at around the five-year mark.
• Internal use. Mount it inside the building.

What else you need

An AX PRO alarm system to work with. The detector adds glass break detection to that system. It does not replace door contacts or PIR (passive infrared) motion sensors, which cover openings and movement.

Rooms with a large window, a glazed door panel or a run of glass are the obvious places to use it. For a room with glazing on more than one wall, map out where each detector will sit before you buy, so every pane is within 8m of one.
