Product Description
The 2m Cat6 Ethernet Cable - High-Speed RJ45 Network Patch Lead (SKU RJ45-NETWORK-CABLE-CAT6-2M-BLUE) is a blue, 2m (4.92ft) lead with an RJ45 male connector at each end. It suits short hops between two devices that sit close together, such as a recorder and a switch, or a workstation and a wall port.
What the specs mean in use
- Cat.6, U/UTP: unshielded twisted pair. There is no shielding layer, so the cable is lighter and easier to handle.
- 250MHz supported bandwidth: the signal range the cable is specified for.
- Attenuation 32.8dB/100m at 250MHz: the nominal signal loss, quoted per 100m.
- 2m length: enough for a neat connection without coiled slack.
- 24AWG copper conductors, with gold-plated copper alloy pins.
- 5.8mm PVC jacket: a slim cable for tight cable management.
- Minimum bend radius 69mm: keep curves wider than this (about 7cm) when routing.
Connectors and temperature range
The polycarbonate RJ45 housing measures approximately 11.6 × 22.8 × 8.3mm. Operating temperature is -10°C to 60°C. Storage temperature is -20°C to 75°C.
What you also need
Both devices need an RJ45 network port. This is a fixed-length lead, so for a longer run you would need a different cable. It is described for use in offices, homes and CCTV installations.
