Product Description
Fifteen metres of blue network cable, already fitted with a plug at each end. The Cat6 Ethernet Cable 15m, Blue U/UTP RJ45 Patch Lead (SKU RJ45-NETWORK-CABLE-CAT6-15M-BLU) is for connections where a short lead will not reach.
What the specs mean in use
- 15m (49.21ft) length: spans a larger room or links devices that sit well apart.
- RJ45 male at both ends: RJ45 is the common network plug. Each device you connect needs an RJ45 socket. Each plug measures approx. 11.6×22.8×8.3mm (0.46×0.90×0.33in), useful if you are checking a wall hole, conduit or crowded port.
- Cat6, 250MHz bandwidth: Cat6 is Category 6 cabling, suited to high-speed data such as video streaming and large file transfers. Nominal attenuation (signal loss along the cable) is 32.8dB/100m @250MHz. Listed uses are office networks, home internet and CCTV installations.
- U/UTP: unshielded twisted pair. There is no metal screen. The twisted pairs limit electromagnetic interference.
- 24AWG copper conductors: AWG is American Wire Gauge, a measure of wire thickness. Pins are gold-plated copper alloy.
- 5.8mm PVC jacket: slim enough to route alongside other cables. The cable suits both indoor and outdoor settings.
- 69mm minimum bend radius: do not bend it tighter than about 7cm.
- Temperature: operates from -10°C to 60°C; stores from -20°C to 75°C.
Setting it up
For CCTV, you need a camera, NVR (network video recorder) or switch with RJ45 ports at the two ends. The blue jacket helps you pick this run out from other cables in a busy cabinet or trunking.
