Prysmian 6242Y Twin & Earth Cable 1.5mm² Grey 1m

Grey Twin and Earth Cable 1m, Prysmian 6242Y 1.5mm² (SKU PX-CABLE-6242Y-1M-1.5MM-GREY) is flat PVC (polyvinyl chloride) insulated and sheathed cable for fixed installation in domestic, commercial and light industrial premises. One unit is one metre, so the quantity you order sets your length.

What the specs mean in practice

• 1.5mm² solid copper conductors. Used for lighting circuits, switch drops and small power radials. The current rating is around 20A clipped direct, depending on installation method and local wiring regulations.
• Brown, blue and a bare copper CPC. Brown is line, blue is neutral. The CPC (circuit protective conductor) is the uninsulated earth between them.
• 300/500V, 70°C maximum operating temperature. Install it at -15°C or warmer.
• About 4.7mm high by 8.6mm wide. The flat profile clips to walls and joists, runs in channel, trunking or conduit, or can be embedded in plaster.
• BS6004, BS EN 60228, BASEC approved. Conductors are class 1 plain annealed solid copper to BS EN 60228. The cable is made and certified to BS6004 (a British Standard) and is BASEC approved. The Prysmian brand suits specifications that call for branded cable.

On a security job

It can provide fixed 230V feeds for CCTV power supplies, small distribution boards and other ancillary loads. It sits alongside the low-voltage Cat5e/Cat6 and coax cabling used for camera signal.

Ordering

The cable is cut from a 100m drum in 1m increments. You buy the run you need, not a full reel. Measure the route first and allow extra for terminations at each end.

Circuit design and cable sizing should follow BS 7671, the UK wiring regulations.
