The Hikvision DS-K2M002X 2 Door Access Control Expansion Module adds control of up to two doors to a Hikvision access control system. It is a DIN rail module for control cabinets, not a standalone controller.
Each spec, in practice
- RS-485 link to the main controller. RS-485 is a wired serial data bus. The module passes door data to the access controller over it.
- Readers on RS-485 (OSDP) or Wiegand. OSDP (Open Supervised Device Protocol) and Wiegand are two ways a reader talks to a controller. Card readers, keypads and biometric readers can be used, as long as they use one of the two.
- DIN rail mounting. The module goes on the rail inside an electrical cabinet or control panel, alongside the rest of the system's components.
- Battery charging and discharging management. With a backup power system connected, the module helps the system keep running through a power interruption.
- LED indicators. Separate lights show power, communication, running and door status, which helps during setup and fault-finding.
