Hikvision DS-2CD2387G3-LIS2UY/SL(2.8mm)/BLACK Hik 8MP Smart Hybrid Light ColorVu Fixed Turret 2.8mm BLACK

The Hikvision DS-2CD2387G3-LIS2UY/SL(2.8mm)/BLACK Hik 8MP Smart Hybrid Light ColorVu Fixed Turret 2.8mm BLACK is a black turret camera with a fixed lens. Here is what each headline spec means on screen.

Specs, translated

• 8MP resolution: more pixel detail per frame than lower-resolution cameras.
• 2.8mm fixed lens: a wide view that suits a room, yard or garden. It does not zoom, so pick the mounting position with the coverage you need in mind.
• ColorVu, F1.0 aperture: the wide aperture collects more light, so images stay in colour 24/7.
• Smart Hybrid Light: infrared (IR) and white lights, with 3 supplemental lighting modes.
• Scene-adaptive WDR (wide dynamic range): balances bright and dark areas in the same scene. HikAI-ISP handles noise reduction.
• Person and Vehicle classification: deep-learning based, so detection focuses on those two subjects.
• Audio: an arrayed dual-microphone, built-in two-way audio, and an audio and alarm interface.
• Deterrent: an active strobe light and audio alarm to warn intruders off.
• IP67: water and dust resistant. The anti-corrosion design is referenced to NEMA4X.

What else you need

You need a recorder or software that accepts 8MP streams, plus storage sized for that resolution. IR LEDs draw more power at night. An under-rated power supply or a long cable run can cause voltage drop, which shows up as flickering or a black image after dark.
