Product Description
What it does
The CCTV Video Balun 8MP 4K HD - BNC Passive Connector Coaxial Adapter (SKU BALUN-PUSH-GOLD-8MP) carries a camera's video signal over Cat5e or Cat6 UTP (unshielded twisted pair) cable instead of coax. It suits buildings where network cabling is already in place.
The specs, in plain terms
- Up to 8MP (4K): the balun passes video up to 4K resolution.
- HD-TVI, AHD, CVI and analog: four video formats. HD-TVI is High Definition Transport Video Interface, AHD is Analogue High Definition, and CVI is Composite Video Interface.
- BNC male connector: plugs directly into a camera, a DVR (digital video recorder) input or coaxial cable.
- Gold plated connector plate: gives a stable signal contact.
- Passive: no external power, so there is nothing extra to wire in.
What else you need
- A second balun. Passive baluns are installed in pairs: one at the camera, one at the DVR.
- Cat5e or Cat6 UTP cable between the two.
- A DVR that matches the camera. Its inputs must accept the same format and resolution as the camera you connect.
It is used in residential, commercial and industrial security systems, and in jobs where a coax run is not practical.
