Product Description
The 8MP 4K CCTV Passive Video Balun BNC to RJ45 UTP Adapter (SKU BALUN-SCREW-BLACK-8MP-GOLD) changes a BNC video connection into an RJ45 port. A balun is a small adapter that lets video signal travel over twisted pair cable instead of coax.
What each spec means in practice
- Up to 8MP (megapixel), 4K: it carries pictures from 8MP cameras, so it suits current high-definition systems.
- HD-TVI, AHD, CVI and analog: the camera and recorder both need to use one of these video formats over BNC.
- BNC male connector: it plugs straight into the BNC socket on a camera or a DVR (digital video recorder).
- RJ45 port for Cat5e or Cat6 UTP: UTP means unshielded twisted pair, the cable used for network points. You can reuse existing runs instead of pulling coax.
- Gold plated BNC contacts: these help keep the signal connection stable.
- Passive design: no external power supply is needed at the balun.
What else you need
A video link needs a balun at each end. Fit one at the camera and one at the recorder, then join them with Cat5e or Cat6 UTP cable. Check that your camera and recorder output and accept HD-TVI, AHD, CVI or analog video.
