The 8MP 4K CCTV Passive Video Balun BNC Screw Terminal UTP Adapter (SKU BALUN-SCREW-BLACK-8MP-PRO) lets you run camera video over twisted pair cable instead of coax. A balun converts between the BNC connector on a camera or recorder and the paired wires in network cable.

What the specs mean on site

• Passive, no power needed. Nothing to wire in at the camera or recorder end. There is no extra supply to plan for.
• Up to 8MP (4K). It is rated for cameras up to that resolution.
• HD-TVI, AHD, CVI and analogue. Four video formats are supported, so it is not tied to one format.
• BNC male connector. Plugs straight into a camera or a DVR (digital video recorder) video input.
• Screw terminal block. Twisted pair conductors are fixed with a screwdriver. No specialised tools are needed.
• Cat5e or Cat6 UTP. UTP means unshielded twisted pair, the common network cable.

Fitting it

Use one balun at the camera end and one at the recorder end, with Cat5e or Cat6 cable between them. This suits sites where structured network cabling is already installed or preferred.

Your camera must output one of the supported formats, and the recorder input must accept that same format. The balun carries the signal. It does not convert one format to another.
