Product Description

The Video Balun BNC to Screw Terminal for Cat5e/Cat6, 8MP lets you run a CCTV camera over twisted pair cable instead of coaxial. A balun converts between the coax-style BNC connector on a camera or recorder and the paired wires in a network cable.

What the specs mean on site

  • Passive design: the balun needs no external power supply of its own.
  • Up to 8MP (4K): suits cameras up to 4K resolution.
  • Video formats: HD-TVI, AHD, CVI and CVBS (standard analogue composite video).
  • Power over Coax (PoC): compatible cameras can receive power along the same transmission path, which can cut the number of cables in some installations.
  • BNC connector: connects directly to a camera or a DVR (digital video recorder) input.
  • Screw terminal block: you wire the UTP (unshielded twisted pair) cable in without specialised tools.
  • Cable: designed for Cat5e or Cat6.

What you need to complete the run

Baluns are typically used in pairs: one at the camera end, one at the recorder end. That means two units per camera. Your camera and recorder must also support one of the formats above. If you plan to use PoC, the camera and recorder setup must support it too.

It is suited to residential, commercial and industrial CCTV installs where structured cabling is already in place.
