Product Description

Rolling bars, a wavy picture or horizontal lines on a CCTV (closed-circuit television) monitor often point to a ground loop. The BNC Ground Loop Isolator (SKU BNC-ISOLATOR-GB001) goes into the video line between the camera and the recording device and breaks that ground path.

What the specs mean in practice

  • Insertion loss 0.5dB: the video signal loses 0.5dB passing through the unit.
  • Frequency response 20Hz to 10MHz (0~3dB): the band it passes, with the stated 0~3dB variation.
  • Ground isolation more than 90dB: the stated figure for how well the unit separates the ground connections of the camera and recorder.
  • Coaxial input/output 75 Ohm: matches 75 Ohm coaxial video cabling.
  • Isolation voltage DC 600V (min) and insulation resistance 100M Ohm.
  • Transient voltage suppressors (TVS) rated 12 Vrms.

Fitting it

The unit connects with BNC (Bayonet Neill-Concelman) connectors, so the camera end and the recorder end both need to be BNC. Fit it in line, camera on one side and recorder on the other. Whether you need any extra cable or adapters depends on your existing setup.

Size is 68 x 28 x 21mm with 24cm. The body is plastic and metal, finished in black.

Suited to professional and DIY CCTV installations where a ground loop is the likely cause of picture interference.
