What that means in practice
The male end goes into your PC or USB hub. The device's own lead plugs into the female end. Your device then sits up to 5 metres further away than its stock cable allows.
Where it fits
It suits home, office and CCTV (closed-circuit television) installs. Use it to reach printers and cameras, or to extend a USB-powered CCTV camera back to a PC or hub that is out of range of the supplied lead.
Before you order
You need a free USB A port on the PC or hub. The device lead you are extending must also end in a USB A male plug, so the connectors mate.
