View Details

This range covers 32-channel Hikvision recorders. Each one takes up to 32 cameras. One is a network video recorder (NVR) for network (IP) cameras. Three are digital video recorders (DVRs) for wired coax cameras.

How to choose

Check your cable first. A network cable needs the NVR. A coax cable needs a DVR.

  • Picture quality: two recorders handle up to 4K (8MP, or megapixels): the NVR and the 8MP 1.5U H.265 AcuSense DVR. The 5MP 1.5U H.265 DVR is rated up to 5MP. H.265 is a video compression format.
  • Power: the NVR has 24 PoE (Power over Ethernet) ports. They power cameras through the network cable. Cameras beyond 24 need power from another source, such as a PoE switch.
  • Alerts: the three DVRs give motion-only alerts.
  • Size: the 5MP 1U DVR is a 1U unit. The others are 1.5U. "U" is rack-unit height, so check your cabinet space.

Work out hard drive capacity from your camera count and recording days before you buy.

32CH — frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an NVR and a DVR?

An NVR records network (IP) cameras connected by network cable. A DVR records wired cameras connected by coax cable.

How many cameras can a 32-channel recorder take?

Each recorder in this range takes up to 32 cameras. You do not have to fill every channel.

Does the 32-channel NVR power my cameras?

Yes. The Hikvision 32-ch 1.5U 24 PoE NVR has 24 PoE ports that power cameras over the network cable. Any cameras beyond 24 need power from elsewhere.

Which recorders here support 4K (8MP) cameras?

The Hikvision 32-ch 1.5U 24 PoE NVR works with network cameras up to 4K (8MP). The Hikvision 32-ch 8MP 1.5U H.265 AcuSense DVR does the same for coax cameras.
