First check which recorder you already have: an NVR needs a network (IP) camera, a DVR needs a wired (coax) camera. Then decide how well you need to see in the dark.

This range covers three Hikvision 2MP IP cameras. 2MP means about 1920 × 1080 pixels, also called full HD. Each camera sends video over a network to a recorder.

How to choose

  • Dome: DS-2CD2723G0-IZS. The motorized varifocal lens lets you set the view angle by motor instead of swapping the lens. It is PoE (Power over Ethernet), so one network cable carries power and data. IP66 rated for outdoor use.
  • PTZ: DS-2DE5232IW-AE(S6). PTZ means pan, tilt and zoom. The 32× zoom brings distant detail closer, and the infrared (IR) range of 150m helps in the dark. One camera shows only one view at a time.
  • Turret: DS-2CD1327G2-LUF. ColorVu is aimed at colour images in low light. It has a built-in microphone, PoE and an IP67 rating.

What else you need

Each camera uses one recorder channel. For the PoE models, use a PoE switch or a recorder with PoE ports. Check the PTZ's power requirements before choosing a switch.
