Product Description

The POWER SUPPLY 12V 5A (SKU PSU-HM-U1205A) outputs 12V DC (direct current) at 5A. Multiply the two and you get 60W, the total available across everything connected to it.

What it is for

It is intended for CCTV (closed-circuit television) cameras, LED (light-emitting diode) lighting and other 12V devices. Use it for one piece of equipment, or for several, provided their combined draw stays within its total capacity.

Sizing it properly

Add up the rated current or wattage of each device and keep the total under 5A / 60W. Cameras with infrared (IR) night lighting draw more after dark, so allow for the higher night-time figure rather than the daytime one.

An under-rated supply or a long cable run can cause voltage drop. On a camera, that often appears as flickering or a black image at night.

Before you connect

  • Check the connector size matches the device.
  • Check the polarity (which contact is positive) matches the device.
  • Only connect equipment that runs on 12V.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many watts does this power supply provide?

It provides up to 60W, which is 12V at 5A.

Can it power more than one device?

Yes, as long as the combined draw of all devices stays within its total capacity of 5A / 60W.

Why might a camera flicker at night on this kind of supply?

Infrared LEDs draw more power at night, so a weak supply or a long cable run can cause voltage drop and flickering. Check the adapter rating and cable length.

What should I check before connecting a device?

Check that the connector size and polarity match your device.
