Product Description
The Timbermate Wood Screws -5.0x90mm-3.1/2" are steel, countersunk wood screws for medium to heavy duty timber fixing.
What the numbers mean
- 5.0 mm diameter: a thicker shank than light-duty screws, giving a firmer grip in timber fibres.
- 90 mm length (3½ inch): long enough to pass through one board and bite deep into the timber behind it. It is a poor choice for thin trim, where the point could break through the back.
- Countersunk head: the head sits flush with the surface once driven. Nothing sticks out to catch on a hand, a cable or a neighbouring panel.
- Steel construction: gives the fastening strength for framing and structural wood.
Where it fits
The screws are made for timber, chipboard and plywood. Typical jobs include securing timber boards, framing components and structural wooden elements, as well as fixing panels and installing fittings.
What else you need
A drill/driver and a matching bit. For a tidy flush finish, cut a countersink recess in hard timber before driving the screw home.
Check the 90 mm length against the combined thickness of the materials you are joining. The screw should finish inside the second piece of timber, not poke through it.
