The TIMCO Solo Wood Chipboard Screws 5.0x40mm PZ2 Yellow Zinc are multi-purpose screws for timber, chipboard and other wood-based materials. Here is what each spec means in use.

What the spec means

• 5.0 × 40 mm: a 5.0 mm diameter and a 40 mm (4 cm) length. This is a thicker, stronger screw for medium-depth timber fixings.
• Countersunk head: the head sits flush with the surface once driven, so the finish stays neat.
• PZ2 Pozi drive: Pozi is a cross-shaped screw drive. Size 2 gives firm driver engagement and cuts the risk of cam-out, which is the bit slipping out of the head under load.
• Yellow zinc plated steel: the plating gives corrosion resistance suited to interior building environments and general installation work.

What you need to use them

You need a PZ2 bit in a manual screwdriver or a power tool. A different drive size will not seat as well in the head. Check that the material you are fixing into is timber, chipboard or an engineered wood board.
