Product Description
Making your own cable ends means one tool has to strip, cut and crimp. The N568R Modular Plug Crimper Tool for RJ45 RJ11 RJ12 Connectors (SKU MODULAR-PLUG-CRIMPER-N568R, also listed as Crimping-Plier-HM-N568) does all three.
What each spec means in practice
- RJ45, RJ11 and RJ12 connectors. RJ stands for registered jack. RJ45 is the 8-pin Ethernet plug. RJ11 and RJ12 are the smaller, telephone-style plugs. One tool covers network and phone terminations.
- CAT5e, CAT6 and telephone cable. CAT5e and CAT6 are the Ethernet cable grades used between IP (internet protocol) cameras, an NVR (network video recorder) and network switches.
- Cutting, stripping and crimping. The cutter and stripper prepare the cable end. The crimp jaws then fix the plug onto it, so the whole termination is done with one tool.
- Precision crimp dies. The dies press the connector in a consistent way, which supports secure contact and reliable signal transmission.
- Ergonomic handle. Easier to control when you are terminating a run of cables rather than a single plug.
What else you need
The crimper only terminates. You supply the plugs and the cable, and the plug type should match the cable: RJ45 for CAT5e or CAT6, RJ11 or RJ12 for telephone cable.
