The DeWalt DCD778P2T 18V XR Brushless Combi Drill 2x5.0Ah Kit is a cordless drill that drills, hammer drills and drives screws in wood, metal and masonry. Here is what each headline spec means in use.

Specs in plain terms

• Brushless motor: there are no carbon brushes to wear, which improves efficiency and durability.
• Up to 65 Nm of torque: Nm is newton metres, a measure of turning force. It sets how well the drill copes with larger screws and demanding drilling.
• 13 mm metal keyless chuck: you tighten bits by hand, with no chuck key. 13 mm is the widest bit it holds.
• Two-speed gearbox: a higher speed for drilling, a lower one for screwdriving.
• 15 torque settings: you choose how hard a screw is driven, so small and large screws can both be set accurately.
• LED work light: LED means light-emitting diode. It lights the work area in confined or dim spaces.
• All-metal gearing: built for consistent performance in demanding conditions.

Supplied with the kit

• Two 5.0Ah XR lithium-ion batteries. Ah means amp-hours; a higher figure gives longer use between charges.
• A compatible charger.
• A TSTAK case for carrying the drill and accessories.
